YDL PLAN

A Blueprint to Build the Most Dynamic Youth Political Force in Louisiana

My goal as President is to transform the Young Democrats of Louisiana into a powerhouse of youthful energy, ideas, and action. I envision a political movement that connects the voices of our communities to a national mission for progress and justice. Together, we’ll build a generation of leaders who don’t just participate in politics, but shape it. I’ll create a space where everyone is welcome, and everyone feels invited to contribute in whatever capacity feels right for them. I believe that it’s up to us who are able to fight for what’s right for the sake of the greater good. My goal is to do exactly that, and I will also see that others who feel the same as me are given the team, tools, and power to contribute.

As President, my mission will be to help revolutionize the Young Democrats of Louisiana into a statewide, youth-led organization that connects local passion with national purpose. By leveraging both internal talent and external expertise, YDL will empower young Louisianans to become informed, engaged, and effective change makers who contribute meaningfully to the broader Democratic movement and the future of our country.

My ultimate vision for YDL will be recognized across the nation as a model for youth-driven political engagement in the Deep South. Through strong organization, collaborative leadership, and a commitment to justice, we will develop civically knowledgeable, election-ready, and policy-minded young people who lead not only in Louisiana, but within the next generation of Democratic leadership. Together, we will advance equity, opportunity, and progress nationwide across all levels of government.

If we work together and stay focused and determined, I believe YDL can achieve the following goals:

Within 6 months, YDL will

  • Review and strengthen its Constitution and Bylaws to create a foundation built for growth, collaboration, and real impact.
  • Finalize written collaboration agreements with the Louisiana Democratic Party, Louisiana High School Democrats, and Louisiana College Democrats to establish a united and sustainable youth coalition.
  • Raise at least $500 in order to prove successful fundraising, establish credibility, and support organizational processes

Within 9 months, YDL will

  • Host at least one statewide program that unites and energizes members, proving that youth organizing in Louisiana can make noise and make change.
  • Establish a centralized digital infrastructure including but not limited to an onboarding process, membership database, regular newsletter, and a “how-to” guideline for operation of local chapters and caucuses

Within 1 year, YDL will:

  • Be equipped with the resources and strategy to influence at least two key pieces of legislation, ensuring young voices help shape Louisiana’s future.
  • Alumni & Advisory Council made up of former YDL “Honorary Members”, elected officials, and party mentors to provide guidance, professional connections, and long-term support for the organization. This council will serve as a bridge between generations of Louisiana Democrats, ensuring YDL’s growth, continuity, and institutional memory.
  • Hold a statewide conference (separate from convention) that is to be modeled off of other successful YDA conferences

Within 2 years, YDL will

  • Have productive, self-governing geographic regional chapters and caucuses in order to broaden and streamline our impact
  • Be equipped with the resources, plan, and general capabilities to successfully support the election of at least 1 political candidate
  • Have a successful, established “Pipeline to Election” that should be expected to produce elected officials within a 5 year time frame from the start date of the first cohort.

How Do I Plan to Achieve His Goals?

  • Consult various organizational, experienced leaders from other YDA chapters and local organizations to get advice on internal documents, operations, leadership roles, and other basic logistics as we modernize
  • Consult professional, experienced fundraisers to implement long term, sustainable areas of income
  • Develop a long term plan for endorsement processes, considering tangible support mechanisms with reasonable limitations
  • Set a schedule for regular meetings for the general body, the executive board, communications, committees, and any other groups identified under the YDL umbrella
  • Launch an informative “Young Democrats Bootcamp” in order to educate our members on civics, campaign management, and social media. To be modeled off of other chapters who have done similar initiatives, and off of nationally-recognized training
  • Identify ways for YDL to be a truly inclusive organization and consult experts for trainings on anti-racism, LGBTQ+ advocacy, disability accommodations, or other related topics identified as beneficial and necessary for the organization’s sustainable development and growth
  • Create chapter and caucus tool-kits
  • Establish specific committees as needed to see through the aforementioned plan to achieve the aforementioned goals and recruit from general membership to sit on committees.
